Surface physical-chemical properties |

In the case of titanium-based
implants, our innovative surface dramatically changes the chemical
composition of the surface, keeping the
core material unchanged, and thus the core mechanical properties
associated to titanium
and its alloys. The compounds at the surface, where titanium
oxide is not any more the main component, present an extremely
friendly surface
to the
surrounding living tissue.
Extensive XPS (X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) studies of the
surface have been performed leading to the optimisation of the
treatment
and its adaptation to different original titanium surfaces: titanium,
titanium alloys, and titanium oxides…
On the other hand, the surface treatment also modifies the surface
energy.
On the other hand, the surface treatment also modifies the surface energy, affecting the hydrophilicity of the surface. See
